Calibration of scales

Calibration means that the scale is checked against a known load. When you use a scale in your business, you want to be able to trust that the scale is accurate. A scale is important in its context and requires supervision for accurate results – delivered weight must correspond to checked weight at the receiver. At Flintab, we are experts in calibration – every year we perform around 8000 calibrations.

After calibration, a calibration certificate is issued to the customer. We also collect your evidence in Flintab’s customer portal. After we have completed the assignment, you can easily log in and retrieve your documents, where they are also safely saved for future needs.
Flintab applies full confidentiality to all calibration results.

Different scales need different methods/ways to be calibrated according to. Some wave types are quick and easy while others take longer. Some use of scales is also covered by laws and regulations regarding how they must be tested and approved. Below we present the most common methods.

Calibration

Calibration can be performed using an accredited method or a non-accredited method. The accreditation gives you as a customer a guarantee that the control assignment is carried out impartially, correctly and is based on internationally recognized standards and methods. It also gives you a proof that is accepted by all parties.

Flintab’s calibration laboratory is regularly checked by Swedac to ensure that competence is maintained. Flintab is accredited by SWEDAC for the calibration of non-automatic scales with a capacity of up to 300 tonnes as well as automatic scales of the catchweigher, checkweigher and wheel loader scales.

We call a calibration outside of accreditation a stress test. It is suitable for scales where there are not as great demands on accuracy or where the construction of the scale is so unusual that it is difficult to carry out a legal calibration.

Recurring control

Recurring control (earlier reverification or crowning) means that the scale is checked against the requirements set in Swedac’s regulations. For some scales, an inspection is required every two or every year, for other scales only when the seal has been broken. It is you who uses the scale who is responsible for using an approved scale, but Flintab can help you all the way with both planning, implementation and any adjustments to ensure that the scale is approved.

Flintab is accredited by SWEDAC for checking non-automatic scales as well as automatic scales such as catchweighers, checkweighers and wheel loader scales.

Calibration of scales for finished packages

Scales have a requirement to be approved when manufacturing prepackaged goods. A finished package is the combination of a product and a package in which it has been packed. This also means that you have to keep an eye on both the contents and the packaging itself.

There are big financial gains in not filling more than necessary in the packaging, at the same time legal requirements regarding minimum weights must be met. Through our knowledge of weighing, we can help you find the balance.

Calibration of weights

We can also offer our customers calibration of weights.

We are also accredited to calibrate scales and are happy to help our customers check their self-checking scales.

We offer calibration for all sizes of weights from 1 g to 1 ton. We help you ensure your measurements/checks by assessing that your reference weights maintain the required class and stability. We can also adjust weights to meet tolerance requirements in OIML class M1 and M2.

Delivery:
Results are reported in a digital calibration certificate in Swedish or English that states that the calibration was performed by an accredited laboratory.

Impartiality and independence

Flintab creates trust in its services by being objective in the execution of assignments. This means paying attention to the fact that assignments are carried out in an impartial manner without personal gain and that objective evidence is sought to show that the service or product meets the requirements. All employees who perform accredited services have signed a commitment to act impartially when carrying out assignments.

Assignments are carried out under confidentiality – results, data and other information are only available to the assignor and Flintab.
